About Us

Tennessee Blues Mob

a progressive blues-rock band from Murfreesboro, TN, gaining acclaim from critics, industry insiders, and fans alike. Their raspy, hard-hitting vocals, paired with emotional, seductive lyrics, match the band’s grinding intensity. Heavy, detuned blues-rock guitar riffs blend with bold, eclectic writing, while atmospheric keys fuse traditional and modern sounds for a powerful experience.
Backed by a machine-like rhythm section, their debut release *Deep Dark Alibi* has earned rave reviews in the US and Europe. Having played together for years, the band’s chemistry is undeniable—don’t miss their electrifying live performance!

The Band

Mike Phillips

Mike Phillips | Vocals

Mike has been singing in bands since high school and has sung for quite a few notable bands regionally around Tennessee, including bands with other TBM members, Scott Mincey and Damian Robinson.

His early rock influences are Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Led Zeppelin. He was also raised with a good, healthy dose of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and other country greats.

Shane Borchert

Shane Borchert | Guitar

Shane grew up in a musical family, with his father, Charles Borchert, performing at the Grand Ole Opry and touring extensively.

Influenced by his father, who taught him his first chords, Shane drew inspiration from artists like KISS, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, and Jeff Beck. He played in several Doom and Thrash bands, some of which gained European audiences.

Damian Robinson

Damian Robinson | Bass

Damian’s musical roots run deep, with his grandfather Vernon Claud, a Decca Records artist and songwriter, setting the stage for his passion. He picked up guitar as a child and, by 19, found his true calling with the bass.

Throughout his career, he’s played in numerous projects, shaped by a rich tapestry of influences from his father’s vast vinyl collection. While he refuses to name a favorite, iconic bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Jane’s Addiction are always in the mix.

Terry McClain

Terry McClain | Keyboards

Terry “The Machine” McClain (keys, bgvs) earned his nickname by accomplishing the extraordinary: recording a new album every month in 2014, each from a different genre, all created from scratch.

His versatile style draws from powerhouse influences like Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Soundgarden, showcasing his dynamic range and relentless creativity.

Murfreesboro Pulse

With a tone set early on by a formative, deep, dark Univox organ (with an apparent volume lever glitch, or speaker busted, possibly), vocalist Mike Phillips quickly breaks the notion of the beginning of a hip new pop record, and lead-rasps all-in, introducing the newest, dirtiest grunge-blues band in town, Tennessee Blues Mob.

That Devil Music

Phillips’ vocals are raw, unbridled screams from the abyss suitable for Norwegian death metal but better for hard-edged blues-rock. Wrapped around his inscrutable lyrics, Phillips vox channel the pissed-off spirits of a hundred Delta bluesman while the rest of the Mob rumbles on behind him with malevolent intent.
